DIY Wedding Invitation Suite
In the next few Affinity® Designer tutorials, we will create a wedding invitation suite. This is a fun project for the DIY bride. Also many designers who have their own cutting machine have turned creating wedding stationary in to a business.
This combination of cards that we will create in this series will contain a save the date, an invitation, an RSVP and a thank you card. We will also create envelope liners for each of the cards. After we create the cards, we will cut out the pieces with the cutting machine, assemble the suite of cards and package them together with the belly band.
Although there are several other cards in a wedding invitation suite, these are the most commonly used. Also, these cards may come in various sizes, but we will be creating our cards in the most popular sizes.
When designing the suite of cards, you will want to use the same theme, style or design for the group of cards in the suite. One way to do this is to use a monogram containing the initials of the bride and groom or another repeatable design element. Another is to use the same basic shapes throughout the suite. In the example image above, we used the same muted pink stripes, along with an arch shape background containing the text.
Save the Date
This 5 x 7 inches card is the first card in the suite to be sent to family and friends. You will want to at least include the location, date and time of the wedding, along with the name of the bride and groom.
Invitation
The minimum information to include on the 5 x 7 inches invitation card is the name of the host, as well as the name of the bride and groom. Of course, you will also include the location, date and time of the wedding.
RSVP
The 5.5 x 4.25 inches response card is the way your guest can respond to your invitation. This will tell you the number of guests to expect. The minimum information the card should include is a place for the guest to sign their name. It should also include a way for the guest to accept or not, along with a respond by date. If you have a wedding website, include that as well.
Thank You
After the wedding day, you will need a way to thank all of your guest for attending your special celebration. It is nice to continue the same wedding theme or style of design in your 5.5 x 4.25 inches thank you note.
